Last Friday Night seen Latton O’Rahilly’s officially launch their Centenary Year Programme. Its commenced with a mass of Thanksgiving for 100 years of Latton O’Rahilly GAA in St.Mary’s Church,Latton.The mass was celebrated by Co Celebrants FR White & Fr Quigley. It commenced with the Lighting of Centenary Candle by Sean Og Flood. It was a truly community affair involving all aspects of the club’s involvement with symbols being presented by
-Club Jersey-Owenie Sullivan presented representing the pride of wearing the Jersey & representing your club
-O’Neills Football -Seamus McElroy(Senior) presented symbolising the playing of Gaelic Football in the Parish over last 100 years bringing Local & National Pride in the most challenging of time.
-Latton Ladies Football Club were represented by Alice & Lily Coyle who presented a signed Football from the Ladies who are proud County & Ulster Champions at present.
Hurling Sliother -John McPhillips brought forward the Sliother to displays hurling in the parish where at one time we had two competitive Hurling teams.
-A Camogie Stick was brought forward by Margaret Markey McElroy symbolising the great tradition and success of Latton girls on the playing fields of Monaghan and Nationally in days past.
– A Handball was presented by Ben Mc Geough representing Bawn Handball Club where this ancient Gaelic Sport continued to be enjoyed and many County and indeed All Ireland Titles reside.
-Minute Book -Packie Boyle brought forward a minute book forward symbolising the large part that the administrators play in the Club giving unselfishly of their time & skills to promote the Club on all occasions
-Fund Raising was represented by Martin Brady who endless Lotto Selling has made him a vital member of our Club.
-Scor/Culture -Seamus Beno Coyle brought forward a tin whistle symbolising the Cultural activities & traditions of the club.
-Keys of the Centre-Mickey Duffy presented a set of keys as a symbol of the openness and all-inclusive facility our Local Facilities are.
-Development Plans were presented by Paul Quinn as a symbol of the constants developments and improvements taking place in the club..
Members of the Club participated in all aspects of the mass with the Choir giving a beautiful musical a compliment to the occasion.
Following the mass the Crowd moved to the GAA Centre where Seamus Coyle outlined our yearly programme.
